How good do you rate the driving experience with your CX-5 clutch and gearbox – is it as silky smooth as the car reviews seem to indicate?

The gearbox and clutch can make for a great driving experience,  but they surely depend on your ability too. The smoothest technique would be to double clutch to match the gearbox to the revs.

I like to make really smooth gear changes when I have people in the car, so they cant feel it happening, all about matching the revs to the road speed/gear selected. easy going downhill, a bit of practice to achieve going up hill.

The police teach their pursuit drivers to do just that. Takes a bit of practice as you say, unless of course you have an auto. For all VW''s faults, their dsg gearbox is fantastically smooth. ...

I'm so glad I'm a petrol head.  Had one diesel, a BMW,  which was just awful...one of the worst cars I had the misfortune to own.
