Mine wad a MK1 with the 5.8" Tom Tom system. The upgraded Bluetooth module fixed the start from first track issues, but new problems arose including the melting of 2 memory sticks. Mazda were quite rightly worried about this and took the car back. I am now back in a Toyota who's infotainment system is leaps ahead. Shame really as the Mazda is a much better drive. When replacement time comes along I will give the new cx5 a try, hopefully the new system is a lot better.

Have never tried a USB but the bluetooth from my iPhone always happily picks up where it left over so I've never experienced the 'back to track one' problem either in iTunes or Spotify

One more problem that arrived with the new Bluetooth module was the random function was removed. So with the software version I had you were forced to listen in alphabetical order as track numbers were also ignore. Very odd.

Own a 2013/2014 CX-5? USB music resetting to start each time?

If your Mazda is still under warranty, PLEASE check if when you play music using a USB stick that when you restart the ignition, the music doesn't keep starting at the first track. If it is, book it in with your dealer and get a free new Bluetooth module fitted.

By the way, you need to check it with a USB 2.0 stick of no more than 8Gb as that's all Mazda have tested the units to (still good enough for 1500 tunes!).

I found this out one month after my warranty expired and Mazda are insisting I contribute 30% of the cost, which is around £600 in total. So I would need to cough up around £200 for a defect that the car has had since new.

I'm considering going to Trading Standards, but can't believe that Mazda UK has kept this very quiet, and now they are so mean that they won't pay for the work just one month out of warranty, and yes, the car has been regularly serviced by their dealers.

Edit :
Thank you for joining the forum. As you can see I have merged your posting into an already exsisting topic. Unfortunately this is not new, we have know of this problem for sometime.  Read through the postings above, they may help you when you confront Mazda.

I had a 2013 model, USB would return to track one but the first models didn't.
Also later after a upgrade the USB issue was again resolved and played from the track  you last played.

When the facelift came out the USB operated as expected.

I'm amazed at the alleged cost, but the BT module for my 2015 model is also used for WI-FI and holds your favourites, and probably other things  It sounds like the MK1 may be the same.

I finally got the replacement module fitted to my 2014 CX5 today. Oh the joy of simply being able to listen to music in a sensible way again!
I actually have a 32GB USB stick plugged in, which seems to be working OK.
