I have had my CX-5 Sportnav for about 3 months now, and I am finding it to be a really good car in all areas but one.
I can no longer live with the awful MZD Connect infortainment system.
I can live with the bad and patchy radio reception, but in my job, i rely heavily on the satnav system to get me to some out of the way places, and in this, the MAzda fails miserably.
So I have decided to remove it and replace it with the Pioneer unit from my previous car.
But of course, as this is a Mazda, it is not a simple head unit swap. The tuner is in the drivers footwell, the Bose amplifier is under the drivers seat, and all the connectors seem to be Mazda's own non standard fitting.
I have done some research and believe I have found a source for all the parts I will need, but before I start, has anyone else already been down this path? Has anyone else successfully fitted an aftermarket system to their car, and can give me any pointers on the right and wrong way to do this?
Failing that, would anybody else be interested in seeing how I eventually get it done?
All help gratefully received....
David.
