Hyundai Sante Fe (old model) spacesaver for Mazda CX-5?
« on: April 26, 2017, 08:48:45 am »
Hi - I'm after a spare for my newly acquired 3-year old (approved) CX-5 here in the UK.

I've seen an old (54/55) Hyundai Sante Fe spare - it's the same PCD, and bore size.
It is a 155/90/16, which is actually slightly larger than the recommended size (145/90/16) from the Mazda website (https://www.mazda.co.uk/buying-owning/accessories/mazda-cx-5/2011-11/wheels-suspension/SPWHKTCX5/). Also *much* cheaper than getting one from Mazda.

My only concern is if it will clear the brakes.
Is it possible it won't?

Would all spacesaver/spares of this size be OK?
Anyone got any experience of this, or could you help?
Thank you!

You will need to know what offset the 2 wheels are (ET) as this will tell you how far out the wheel sits and therefore if it will clear the brakes

The normal CX-5 wheels are apparently offset 50.

I'm not sure about the Hyundai - apparently (from a photo) it has this on the spacesaver wheel;
JDOT 11 13 06 4Tx16 30  52910 3K910 HM

So I'm assuming that means it's a 16" wheel, 4" width and 30 offset.

If that's right I put these and my normal wheels (225/90/17 - 7" - 50 offset) into here;
http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=225&aspect=65&diameter=17&wheelwidth=7&offset=50&width2=155&aspect2=90&wheel_size=16&wheel_width=4&offset2=30

and it 'looks' alright?
Can anyone confirm that the 30 I'm assuming is the offset actually is?
And practically, whilst the wheel is further away from the brakes, could the smaller size and shape of the wheel cause problems and it not clear the brakes??
