Drivers mirror issue
« on: April 09, 2018, 07:56:30 pm »
Just arranged to have dealer take car in to check the drivers mirror. Folds in ok when car is locked. But won't open fully when car is unlocked. Needs a few goes before its finally where it should be.
Anyone heard of this issue before?
Thanks

I had a similar problem on my first CX5, posted here

Unfortunately, the photos are no longer there, but the problem was one very small plastic gear in the mirror drive splitting in two. What you're describing could possibly be the start of it splitting? Hopefully not as its a whole mirror replacement job  :'(
Have found one photo of the dismantled drive with the split gear

I had the same just after buying my 2 years old 2014 CX-5.  The dealer replaced the whole mirror under warranty.  Bizarrely, the other one did the same the following week, and was also replaced free.

Just  like to update on the mirror. The dealership were real good. Replaced the motor assembly inside the mirror. I did asked if this has been a problem with the cx5, but the guy I spoke to said no, the only other one he had heard of was on a Hyundai.
But when my wife went to pick the car up the girl at the service desk said there had been a "few" in with similar fault. So hopefully ours was just a one off.
Still a fab car.
Thanks.
