Updating Nav

Hi all,
Any tips on updating the nav without the original sd card?
Cheapest (or free) place to get it etc.

Do you mean the car has never had a nav SD card? It will be dealer or ebay (at your own risk) The cards are locked to the car's VIN number so a used one will be a con.

I'm sure it must have at some stage, just missing when I got the car.

It's more than likely that the previous owner kept the card, probably because they had their home address stored in the Nav. There are ways of reverting that, but I guess they thought it easier just to remove and keep the card.
Having said that, I would have thought that as your dealer was selling the car as a Sport Nav then it would have been their responsibility to make sure that it did have a card in place.
Was this from a Mazda Main dealer or otherwise ?

It was from an independent dealer. Advertised as no sd card.

In some countries you had to buy the card as an extra.  It might never have had one if that is the case in Ireland.  With the card removed, selecting the navigation screen shows a very nice ships compass.

Handy for those days when you decide to exceed the recommended wade limit. Mazda think of everything, bless them..!

Thanks, it is a UK car, and I have just seen that the port slides open! There is actually an Mazda card in there!!

So.. best way to up date a card?

Download mazda toolbox to your computer and take the card to your computer and it will walk you through the rest.

Assuming the car to be a 2014, and therefore a TomTom then the updates are done directly via TomTom (at a cost).

...except that Mazda CX5's don't have a wading limit. I know that because I specifically asked them, as we had some issues with a nearby road repeatedly flooding. Their exact response was "it doesn't have one because it's not intended to be used offroad..."  I think they missed the point rather!

so does an ordinary road, when flooded, suddenly become "off road"..?!

Got it updated, (I think..)

Mazda toolbox wouldn't read the card so I had to get TomTom Home. Backed up and updated.

Just not sure if its the maps or the software that in now up to date. One of the updates was "one time update"

I can't remember how, but you can check your software version against the latest version number on TomTom.  FWIW I reckon they won't have given you the latest version free.
