Does anyone know the size & speed class spec of the SD card for the maps?? I want to order one to have as a backup in case one gets corrupted...having had a few dashcam ones fall over I rather be prepared!

Many thanks.

xI used a card from my phone and used a micro adapter and it works well. Just make sure you buy a high speed card and I recommend a 16g one. My original Tomtom card was too small for all of Europe with buildings. An 8g should also do but I know I can put as many poi as I wish without worry.

Thanks for that. I’ll get one ordered!

I've just backed mine up via a free cloning programme, having updated map a few days back.
I only have 3.5mbps connection but it must have taken around 4 hours :-\

I see elsewhere that the duration for the updates is regularly moaned about, it probably being a combination of their slow server, a poor quality SD card regards write speed, allied to my own ADSL speed.

I asked support if I could back up my map to an SD card with a high write speed to speed things up next time.
Their response was that it should take 45/60 mins max!

And no it couldn't be copied/ backed up due to inbuilt security features.

I know the Toolbox makes a back up, before updating, but I'm assuming if
SD card was subsequently stolen, the Toolbox back up would be no use in transferring
to a fresh SD Card.

My new cloned 16gb Micro card in an SD card holder works just fine. :D ;D :)

There have been reports on my old forum of a number of car break ins purely to nick the
SD Map; on that car the slot is more visible, as it's on right of central screen; at least a bit
more buried on my CX-5 ;D

And now I have a reserve ::)
