184PS Engine

Hello All. New joiner to the forum. I have a 2015 2.2d AWD A/T (175PS) model. I love the car and am toying with replacing with the 2019 184PS (445NM) updated model. I'm in Ireland but the equivalent UK model is the GT Sport Nav+. You'll probably laugh at this but i'm a bit bugged by the performance stats of the new model. My own model is 175PS, 420NM....versus 184PS, 445NM in the new model, yet the 0-100 sprint has dropped from 9.4 to 9.6? I know...0.2secs, big deal....but on paper, i feel like it's step backwards. I'd have thought with the extra PS, the extra NM and all of the engineering improvements in the new car, the figures would be moving in the other direction.....

The new model is heavier. I suspect that the power was increased just enough to overcome the extra weight.

Hi
I had 2015 2.2 sport nav 175 awd auto and recently changed to 2019 184 2.2d gt (loved sport nav but could see bills coming and realised drl on one side had failed which was going to cost despite extended warranty) new car is much more refined. Have not noticed any change in power and when careful ecomony seems better. Would recomend.

Thanks both. It’s a very handsome car. Those bloody stats are just holding me back. I’d say if I walk into a showroom I won’t be able to resist. There is only ONE of these specific models in stock in ANY garage in the country. If I walk through the doors I’m doomed  :)

You really wouldn’t know that the stats are similar because they both go like hell. In any case the pulling power at low revs is much higher which is far more beneficial than sprint times.
Eagles may soar high but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.......

It annoys me that manufacturers seem to love using 0-60 times (or sometimes 0-62) for comparison. In the real world, 50-70 would be a much more useful indicator. I always compare cars by torque rather than hp/ps.

I'd go one further and say that it's high time that manufacturers dropped this quoting of speed altogether we should after all be more concerned with environmental issues as opposed to 0-60 times which are only of interest to boy racers. I'm certainly no slouch but I drive within the limit keeping in mind that the maximum allowed speed limit is not mandatory or even the safest at all times. In addition, towing a caravan from time to time torque figures are more of an interest to me.
