Safety Recall
« on: August 17, 2019, 09:27:05 pm »
I have just received a Safety Recall Notice regarding an Intake Shutter Valve concern. Has anyone already had this done? It requires the valve to be reprogrammed or replaced.

Never heard of an intake shutter valve or of a recall so will have to see others get notices.

I've not received the paperwork, but I found I am due to receive it by checking the DVLA site:

Just checked mine and no recalls listed so they must have fixed whatever it is before June 2018 production.
UPDATETook my car in today (13/11/2019) for a door mirror problem and found out I had a recall for the intake shutter but electrical only. There was a note on the worksheet that this did not relate to the previous shutter intake recall. I've never received a letter so it hopefully isn't too serious.

The internet is a huge dumpster. You have to look hard to find anything useful.

Mines a 2013 model and just had this recall booked in for next month
No idea what it entails or what the symptoms are but apparently they need it for the whole day
Be interested if anyone can find out what this is for

I had my CX-5 "fixed" yesterday, I think it was just a software update on mine as they didn't mention changing any parts. It doesn't seem to drive any differently now, although I was having an intermittent issue with the car "jerking" at light throttle so I'm interested to see if this fixes that!
Versatuner 175bhp map, H&R Wheel Spacers, Red Ambient Lighting, Sony XAV-AX100, Upgraded speakers, Leather Handbrake/Gearlever Gaiters + Armrest, Red Door Piping LED Interior/Exterior Lighting, Exhaust Tips...and about 50kg of sound deadening!

Interesting comment about the ‘jerky’ power delivery on a light throttle, mines had that for ages, it’s very annoying
Apparently they can’t work on the engine whilst it’s hot; so they need it for the day

Just had recall letter.
Booked in a couple of weeks time for up to 4 Hours if required.
Have had similar 'hesitation' at times on light throttle, mileage now 48,000.

Mine was in today for its MOT and annual service so they performed the Safety Recall. According to the gentleman at the desk it involved scanning for a fault code (or codes?) and if present then clean or replace the valve. As mine came up clear all they needed to do was a software update (and strangely it didn’t reset any of my average mpg/speed info which normally appears to happen with a software update).

Be interested to hear other’s experiences.

Just received the recall notice but it was dated 2nd of September - strange that others already had it done before that.
I am still having problems with recalls as I moved to the IOM 4 years ago.
Mazda has my correct details but apparently the recall uses the DVLA information so it went to my old address. It was sent on but this should not happen with a safety issue.
Never had any problems as others have described anyway.

UPDATE - I contacted Mazda and eventually a further copy of the recall notice was sent to my current address.
I had already had the work done and was advised that they had checked the valve as well as doing the software update.

I had my recall work done yesterday. I was only in there about 3/4 hour. I didn’t see them actually check anything under the bonnet, but they did upgrade software. I suppose I didn’t have the relevant fault codes so only needed software upgrade. As my computer settings didn’t reset either I assume that the software upgrade was restricted to inlet/idle valve software. After a service/ software upgrade normally all my computer settings are reset.
