Lowering

Hi folks, just bought a 2016 sport nav diesel 2 wheel drive. I am thinking of lowering it and looking for some advice. Firstly has anyone else done this and if so how is it?   I have only been able to find 2 options oflowering springs one a Eibach set which lowers it overall by 25mm and the other is a H&R set that lowers the front by 30mm and the back by 45mm.  Has anyone any experience with either of these or advice on and downsides to using either?  Cheers

Aesthetics,  I feel the gap between the top of the wheel and the arch is very big. It is a personal thing obviously  but just wondered if anyone had done this and what effect it had on the drive of the car?

Ah! I was suggesting if you didn't have 19s then think about them to close the gap as it were. I had 19s on mine and thought they filled the wheel arch pretty smartly. But if you already have the larger wheels your options are limited.

The outside diameter and circumference of the tyre is the same whether you have 17 or 19in wheels, it's the sidewall depth of the tyre that changes. Otherwise you'd need different speedo gearing for each wheel size

I'm happy to stand corrected, although I'm not certain you're right...am I making a schoolboy error or is the total diameter of 225/55R19 not 39.9 and a 225/65R17 is 39.1? So not much in it but the 19s are larger overall?

Interesting, those figures are quite different to the ones I was using? I had the tyre diameters at 28.52 and 28.74 respectively. There is a difference in rolling circumference but it's less than 1%

Only time I've seen 39in tyres was on a superjeep in Iceland!

I do stand corrected...classic mistake of calculator error then not doing a common sense test to ask oneself whether the car did have 3.5 foot wheel/tyres.

No longer have the CX5 of course. The E-Pace is on 245/45R20 which look enormous but according to your handy link are actually between the CX5 17 and 19 wheels in diameter and circumference
