Sat nav
« on: March 25, 2015, 09:57:24 pm »
Hi guys and gals. I'm a newbie to the forum and have just taken delivery of a 2.0sel facelift. I have been told that if you insert a sd card into the slot the sat nav will work. I need to know the part no of the sd card that I need. I have searched ebay and there are many different part numbers available from different models. Will any work or do I need a specific card. Thanks.

As it happens, I've just pulled the SD card on mine to update it - the info on mine says

Europe 2012
KD51 66 EZ1

Have just googled that and there seems to be a few on sale on eBay, etc, including some which appear to be later versions. They all carry the Mazda logo and say "Maps by TomTom" on them. I think I'd be inclined to find someone who has one that you can try before shelling out, though. I believe the SE-L doesn't have sat-nav as standard, so whilst it may have the card reader, it may not have the "modules" that run the sat nav and the 3G connection that is part of the TomTom Live system. Mine is a 2012 model anyway, which has the button either side of the screen and around the joystick; I assume you are talking about the MZDconnect system which is on the 2015 facelift model?

I don't know this for certain; I think that is just the cynic in me assuming that it couldn't be as easy as just buying the card for ~?50 and it working straight away when plugged in!

Thanks BigAl. I have all of the controls and when you go to the nav screen it says it can be added by going to your dealer. The salesman did say it would work by just adding the sd card. I have also been talking to one of the sellers on ebay and he too confirms your part number. So here goes lets buy an sd card and hope for the best. I can always sell it on if it doesent work. Thanks for your input.

Aha, well spotted. Yes, both 1983 models, the 500 is a standard "maggot", the 650 is a US spec custom, never sold in the UK. Lusted after an obruT for years, never had one, never rode one. Some good ones still about but parts for them are almost impossible to obtain. I'm a long time member of the CX-GL MCC, we have about 300 or so UK members plus another 100 or so worldwide.

So a 2014 sat nav card (tom tom) wont work in a 2015 facelift car. They've changed the mapping supplier. Im trying to find out the part number of the most recent card if anyone has a 2015 facelift model with nav. Thanks.

Just took mine out and printed on the SD card is:
RUS/TUR/EUR
BJM7 66 EZ1B
2566625 Rev 02
Maps by: Navteq
Made in USA
SD 49522500

If that helps

Thanks very much DHZ. I have been told by a dealer today that the sd card from mazda is............... Wait for it..............................................Only ...............£630.00 inc vat.  Don't think I will be buying one from them then. Where are you based DHZ? I have also been told that if the sd card has been in the car for approx. 60 miles it is locked to that car so theres no chance of copying one either.

Just up the road then in sunny Hull. Ive not seen another facelift on the road yet either. cx,s are quite rare anyway around here and everyone that you see in on always points you out to their passenger with a wave. Quite a friendly bunch.

I paid for the TomTom Satnav on my 2013 CX5. After 3 months I was asked to pay a subscription for the Live Traffic Info. £55 a year on top of the initial £700 !!!
Does work well but how is I can buy a portable for around £150 with lifetime updates?
The price for the SD card matches the original add-on price of £700.

Oh dear. Seller mailed me and said he was having problems with the cards. I think he was just trying to clone a card he already had. Refunded my money so lets start looking again. I will get this sat nav working.
