If discussions about subjects get buried in topics with an entirely different title, there is little chance that the information could be found at a later date.

This topic is entitled Sat Nav.  if someone was looking for information about 19" wheels one it is unlikely that they would look under such a subject heading.

Further if someone was to do a search for 19" wheels, the search function would not find the information contained in this topic.

It's just good housekeeping to keep discussions in the appropriate forum.

And the saga continues. I ordered a navteq card off ebay on Friday. On Saturday it arrived but was a tom tom card. Emailed the seller who first told me I had read the advert wrong. Silly me, no I didn't he sent the wrong one. Received the correct one on Wednesday put it in the car and it didn't work it just said invalid sd. I removed it and updated it via mazda toolbox which took two hours. Tried it in the car and it still doesent work. I now have our it guy at work checking out the files to see if its locked to a specific vin no. I need to get this damn thing working. At least I have sold on the incorrect cards and am only out of pocket £60. and not £650. I will get my sat nav working.

So what was the outcome?

Just got my car today 2015 version, and done a backup of the nav card via the toolbox.
I've also attempted to make a personal backup but the car unit just says invalid SD card.

So I have no idea how to do a back up sd card, which will be a worry out of warranty.
Anyone got any suggestions, tool box doesn't even recognize the sd card, so I copied and paste via explorer, but no joy.

This how I have just done a backup copy of SD card
insurt blank SD card    switch on Mazda Toolbox
it will say no device connected
on L/H side click Backup
it will then show list of all backups done click on Restore
a box with Heading Restore backup and under that unfortunately we couldent recogize
your device or card.  click next
new window says please select drive where you want to restore your MZD data
chose drive letter of your SD card  click OK

And that is it...  and it works fine.
I used a 7 day shop card class 10 cheapest they do.   and am using Windows 10

The more I hear about this TomTom Nav business, Chris, the more pleased I am that I took the advice offered to me by a relatively old gentleman who I spoke to in a carpark whilst visiting the UK early last year. He was pleased as punch with his CX-5 but said, were it possible to rip out the Navigator he would have gladly have shipped it back to Mazda along with a few choice words. Based on his, and others advice, I specifically ordered my CX-5 without the Nav element and continue to use my Garmin unit which I can also use outside the vehicle.

I have a Garmin which was no better than the TT, in fact the TT was pretty good overall, it had many features that the latest system doesn't.

What I found disappointing was the smaller screen and poorer screen resolution compared to my 2009 Xtrail nav which was great. And no TCM, you had to pay for live traffic, and it originally had a connection issue, later sorted with a TT software upgrade.

New system works has a 7" screen but although full post codes can be used, the system for some strange reason will not offer ALL the street numbers? The TT did.

With both cars I've had phone connection issues which is separate to the nav.

Yes I liked the Tomtom once live traffic was sorted. I wish we could put a TT card into this latest model.

My understanding that the latest model still uses TomTom. If not, what is it then please?

Any chance you could link to the particular CD slot mount that you bought? Loads of generic ones on eBay but always good to get a recommendation from someone who has one.

Cheers.

Whilst attending the annual Camping and Caravan show last January in Stuttgart there was a chap by the name of Steve Welham who had a small stand there. His claim to fame was as the Director/Founder of a UK company called Organise My Car and at the time was demonstrating what the leaflet describes as the British Invention of the Year which is a CD slot Mount having the ability to hold multiple devices - Mobile Phone, SatNav and Mp3 players etc.

The website is http://www.organisemycar.com/ but unfortunately it's not showing the device at this time. Maybe he's run out or they've stopped selling them, I've no idea. It might be worth giving him a call though and check and the business card that I have shows his number to be 07468 612050 with an address in Clacton on Sea, Essex if that's any good to you. There's another telephone on the website contact page which reads 0330 22 33 108

I was pretty impressed myself really and was going to buy one. As it happens we got so bogged down with other things at the show that we'd long since left when I suddenly remembered.
