I don't think your method sounds sensible, its guessing.

I would go for a remap in preference to a magic box, one that checks all the sensor parameters carries out a rolling road test and prints before and after power graphs.
Was 2013 Mazda CX-5 175 AWD sport nav Man 1663kg
Now 2015 Mazda CX-5 175 AWD sport nav Auto 1703 kg.
 Towing a 1565kg Bailey Valencia 2011 model.

Number 7 on all three sounds about right,  200bhp ish I would have thought.  It seems Maxchip have updated the box to give ABC settings.

A remap invalidates the warranty as opposed to simply unplugging the box before a service and reconnecting after.

My insurance is fully aware and happy with the modification.  I have my own company and have a fleet policy for all vehicles and my broker advised them of the change and the only change to the policy was that no drivers under 25 are now allowed to drive the vehicle (previously it was anyone with my permission).
