LED headlights; driving in Europe
« on: September 05, 2015, 08:26:01 pm »
Just taken delivery of a new CX5 Sport Nav with the LED lights and safety pack.

Whilst I've not read all 738 pages of the owner manual yet, so far I've not been able to find anything about driving on the continent and what actions may need to be taken.  The Octavia I used to have had a setting that caused the Xenons to behave differently.

I'd like to think that with all the features of the safety pack it works it out, but I'd like to see something that says this.  Is anyone aware of what actions, if any, need to be taken.

Thanks.

Well I read most of the manual and no clues on lighting for European roads.

Asked Mazda UK and their reply:

"We do not have any settings in place that allow you to change the way in which the headlights work. In order to meet European regulations you will need to purchase some beam deflectors for the vehicle."

Given all the fancy LED lights, the features of the safety pack, and yet it can't cope with left side or right side driving - needs to stick some ugly deflectors on the lights.

Amazed of Surrey  :(

Can't believe this is required when the adaptive lighting system in the safety pack is so advanced that it does away with the need for dipped and main beam by controlling individual LEDs in the lights to avoid dazzle for oncoming drivers (apparently...I don't have the safety pack!)
