Unstabile radio reception

Hi,

Anyone else but me who has experienced unstabile radio reception?

I regularly experience noticeable variations the sound quality (treble level and dynamic sound going "up and down"). This occurs even when driving in the city. Once in the outskirt, it goes even worse with regular "crackling" sound.

The Mazda dealer here seems to have no solution to this....dissapointing!

I have a CX-5 Sky-G 2.0 Optimum (top model variant in Denmark with Bose Sound System and surround)-

This is the first car I've had with DAB radio. Don't use it much as I use Spotify a lot, but I've noticed that the signal drops out all the time. If I was a big radio user, I'd be pretty disappointed I think.

Yet to experience DAB on the move - let alone in my soon to be collected CX-5.
However, DAB is NOT robust when it comes to signal strength and reception in UK.  It can work in one room in a house and not in another, then drop out when someone walks by the receiver, I can only imagine that on the move is going to add to the issue.
If you are in a strong signal area then fine and you'll get great sound, otherwise I suppose it's back to FM.  This is why the audio analogue broadcasting switch in the UK has been pushed back!!

I believe the problem with DAB in cars is that it's either getting the signal or it isn't - there no middle ground where it gets fainter and crackly like FM...being digital it is there or not here, so it will drop out as you move around.

Hi there chaps,

I'm taking mine back to the dealers next week. I made a complaint about this and some other issues with the USB stick that keeps going back to the first track every so often and the unit keeps resetting itself and going back to factory settings. Also on occasions the volume goes back to Zero. 

Apparently there is an upgrade that should solve this and other little gremlins the pop up now and again 

So fingers crossed no more issues

Good news,  there IS a new software / firmware version = V56.### and dealers can upgrade if you request it AND indicate the problems you've been experiencing.
If you have a look at some of the other posts in this section you will see it fixes a range of problems.

Yes we also have this problem.

So the radio sounds like it is fluctuating between stereo and mono signals.
We know the FM signal is good quality and it is not an issue with FM quality of signal - since our other other non Mazda car has no such issue.
Perhaps the software V56 upgrade will fix it?
We will book it in.

I'm on the latest version, but the DAB is still poor. I'm not sure but it may need retuning to our area.

We really don't need DAB while ever the FM is good, wife uses FM mainly i tend to use the CD or USB, BT if the phone decides to connect.
