Info screen
« on: October 28, 2015, 10:40:11 am »
Hi first post
sorry about the details on the personnel model, I couldnt find an option to turn this off, as we do not own a CX-5 as yet
We are looking at buying the sport nav petrol (only 18 miles done each day) pretty soon, coming from a 14 reg qashqai.....never again.
8th time its been in. last week to have the steering column boot replaced and the electronic handbrake control unit replaced.
In at the moment to have the dash out (for the second time) as something or another has come lose in it and the left hand side exhaust mount has completely snapped off.
Longest the car was in was for 5 weeks a few months ago.
From trim falling completely off or discolouring, to having the small info screen (the one that sits in the middle if the speedo/revs) replaced twice.
New wing mirror twice) first replacement was scratched..well..small chip which they did apologise for.
Faulty front sensor recall, the sensors pick up heavy rain and mistake it to warn of the city brake. no full fix by nissan, as they are still working on it.
interior trim panel in boot warp causing it to pop out of its mounting clips by two inches.
loud chinking sound in drivers door which turned out to be a lose part on the anti theft device in the door.
auto head lights staying on all the time, had to turn them off manually until fixed, part of the 5 week stay with nissan.
Left hand gas strut on the boot failed.
mudflaps fitted, missed two mounting screws.
drivers window dropping slightly after a few miles on rough-ish roads.
Rattle from air vents, common problem, well documented, no fix on the first production cars.
Ive had a vibration noise from day one, that they cant seem to locate.not mechanical, but loud when pulling off from cold on an incline.
hill start assist packed in, part of the 5 week stay.
a bolt holding part of the aircon ducting sheer off.
other small bits and bobs, door sill guards both scratched when installing.
rear seat arm rest stopped fully pulling down.
steering making a groaning noise, it was a plastic collet that is used needing lubricating.
other small stuff that I cannot quite remember.

Anyway I digress...
Does the Sport nav have a display to tell you when to change gear ?..its for the wife  ;D...honest

Yes, it does and tells you for both up and down and also will tell you to go straight from 4th to 6th (e.g.) if appropriate, which I don't recall seeing on the 2012-5 models. I believe it's standard on all models.

My 2013 tells me to block change straight into 6th gear, usually when I'm flooring it in 4th.

Not surprised by your tale of woes with the qashqai. I looked at their forum and various reviews and there were quite a few horror stories. Yours however is one of the worst I've come across. The good news is that the petrol CX 5 is great... quiet, comfortable, so far reliable, good economy  and fast enough for most drivers. Sport navigation is great... smart key is my favourite gadget. My missus loves it and she has until now never expressed any interest in cars  other than the colour and that it works. Opting for the folding mirrors is recommended  but other than that it's pretty much got all you'll need

Hi,
I thought the folding mirrors were standard on the sport nav?
we were also looking at the safety pack, the auto dim headlights are pretty nifty,  we have it on the QQ, works great, a bit nervous as to if it would work or not without blinding anyone, the same as testing the city brake  ;D

Auto folding mirrors I understand fold when the engine is turned off.

Mazda don't have that option, and do want them anyway, it would or could cause me problems when I have my extension mirrors fitted.

Mazda uses a rotary switch which takes some getting use to for folding the mirrors, I use mine every time I go in and out of the garage, daily.
