CX-5 Recall

Now before anyone starts panicking, this is an item from the US.  But perhaps it might be worth falling back on your Boy Scout days and Be Prepared.

Thanks for the heads-up.

A Scout is never taken by surprise; he knows exactly what to do when anything unexpected happens.

My CX-5 is in the workshop at this time having the reversing camera fitted so will mention this issue when collecting it later this afternoon and see whether or not they
have heard anything about it here in Germany.

I fired off this question to Mazda via their contact formula and received the reply (long winded and in German so shall abbreviate here) that this recall action does NOT apply to vehicles produced for the European market. So now we can all sleep well.  :) :) :)

Do we trust a dealer to know though. But thanks that's saved me a phone call.

I mentioned this to my dealer today when he called to arrange fitting of a second CMU...

Needless to say he knew nothing about it, but did at least ask me to forward the link. Best guess would be that - if it were valid here - it would only affect petrol models.

I wouldn't put money on that Alan.
Xtrail was diesel. But I hope you are both right because I don't want another visit to the garage.

Just to reiterate - the reply that I posted earlier was received from Mazda HQ in Leverkusen, Germany, and not from the dealer to whom I did not make mention. Some of the more sceptical - and I've read this elsewhere - might think that this recall is restricted to US and territories as recent events would suggest that they apply more rigorously safety related issues and sue heavily when these conditions are not met. We on the other hand, simply accept things for what they are most of the time LOL.

Good morning John , I have checked and this is only for the US market , uk cars under go rear end crash testing as part of homologation, and may wwell have stronger/thicker pipes used.

I asked Mazda CS yesterday when I was enquiring to confirm they had my bank details for another matter.

They confirmed the recall is not for the UK.
