Just a word to say hello. I finally managed to log on, I feel like I have hacked into some top secret organisation. I am now the proud owner of a brand new Soul Red Sport Nav. After owning a 1 series BM, I can now get out of my car without cramp and back ache after a half hour journey.

Good work Mike.  I'm a relative newcomer myself having just had a short stint with a CX3. That proved too small on occasions but it did give me the confidence to stay with the brand.  I've always been a RAV4 man but I can't just get to grips with the current model.

So far, I've run the phone lead under the console to the phone "space" and added fron and rear dashcams. I've also sprayed the underside with Tetroseal and given the body a thorough coat of Collinite.

Hi Anchorman I had my car safegarded via my dealer, probably extortionate compared to what you paid. I have ordered front and rear mud flaps and a boot mat as well. I was going to ask the question on this site. Why does my dash cam not work in my Mazda. I used to power it from my cigarette lighter but now have 2 usb's, I have a usb lead for the dash cam but it behaves as if you have plugged it into a PC. I guess it is not compatible, or is their a lead I can get to rectify this. I like the idea of front and rear dash cams, what is your setup?
I am ready and waiting my first mission twabrigs.????

I ran the power wire to my dash cam into the centre console as it has a “cig” plug on it.  Getting the console off is easy so I would just get a USB charger socket and run it into the console - keep the media USBs out of it.  I can probably find you instructions for getting the console out.

I have fitted a dash cam and just ran the wire down the side of windscreen pillar and into fuse box inside passenger door then used a piggy back fuse to attach to the acc fuse.  Works well, no visible wires and easily removable.

I've done the same, and also ran a cable for my caravan rear view camera.

No need to remove the trim as the cables will slot under.
The rear dash cam can just be plugged into the boot power socket, as yet i have not got round to buying one.

I’m not sure if these suggestions are that the wire has been tucked under the door seal.  While that is possible, its extremely dangerous if the curtain airbag deploys.  The trim should be completely removed and the wire clipped ABOVE the airbag.  On this CX-3, I cable tied it to the top black loom and my CX-5 is done the same way.

The other concern is that many dash cams (including my EPrance) are 5v off a USB so wired directly to 12v will cause them to blow or catch fire.  They can be wired to 12v but must be through dropper to 5v.  Otherwise, run them through the accessory plug where the 5v dropper is included.

I can't believe how you guys rip your brand new cars to bits, I am going to deliberate for a while what I should do, I have this vision of me stuck in the car under a load of activated airbags. If I mount a rear view camera, I would prefer the camera to be mounted not on the tail gate itself, where have you mounted yours?

Yeah, on the tailgate, I'll show you photos later but I've you are feint hearted, you won't like it - I had the back door stripped bare!

Mine all fitted with the help of a friend who has fitted many in the past.   All in behind the trim so doesn't stop airbag at all.  Also my camera came with a cig lighter attachment so was designed for that power supply.  James
