I’m immediately suspicious!  They could have sold it because it was playing up.  Alternatively, if you drive harder than someone who drove it like Miss Daisy, you might be dislodging more soot. The forced regen might work if they do the proper Mazda method.
They sell a huge amount of cars and have every one checked by AA (for what it's worth) so I would think they are fairly reputable.

Sounds a frustrating problem Jamesbil. Worth taking to a Mazda dealer for diagnostic?

Also must be some warranty from the Wolverhampton dealer? When you bought it presumably they knew you'd be exporting it to Ireland, did you agree anything re warranty procedure with them?

I will take it there if it cant be sorted by the local guy.
Warranty wise the dealer said he couldn't offer their 30 day warranty (which would have expired by now anyway) as its being exported, however this doesn't affect my rights under consumer law.
They did try to sell me an extended warranty, but on reading the terms it only covered UK.

As an update on the regen...

Local mechanic said first attempt failed, second was successful and he also did a third one. Soot level was at 34 before and close to zero after.
Cleared all codes, said there was a few various module ones, radio, door module etc.

Drove it away fine, as normal. 6 miles later TPMS, TCS and SCBS lights on and check engine again...
He is going to look at it again tomorrow.

(BG244 ordered Anchorman)

EDIT: Another 6 miles and all lights have gone out again!!

They sometimes take a while to settle after surgery.

Hi,

I’m having some of the same problems you are having. I’m going to try clean the sensors this weekend. Are the map and IAT2 sensors different or is it the same sensor, just a different name? I’ve watched 2 videos for cleaning map sensor on CX5 and both videos take out a different sensor to clean

Located both map and maf sensor. Maf sensor looked ok, cleaned it anyway but map sensor was absolutely caked in black soot/carbon. Cleaned it up and waiting for it all the dry before taking it out. Hopefully this makes a difference
