Auto locking (usually)

I've noticed that the auto locking feature, when you walk away with the remote key fob, works perfectly almost all the time.

But sometimes it just fails to lock itself...I havem't managed to work out the circumstances that prevent it happening. Probably occurs about once a week. Sometimes when you've got out and closed the driver door and then someone else exits and closes a rear door, it doesn;t lock itself. Then very occasionally, like this morning, just me in the car, hop out, close the driver's door and walk away and it doesn't lock...

Anyone else had this?

Does it have an additional sort of 'definitely lock after 5 mins' type thing so if I walk away and it's unlocked it will eventually secure itself?

I've had this happen quite a few times. My best guess is that its down to the sensitivity of the door light switches, which I think confirm door closure. I have got into the habit of listening for the first bleep (when last door is closed) then the second bleep and indicator flash as you walk away. If you don't get it, reopen and close a door. And, no, it doesn't autolock after a time. I've come back to the car hours later and found it still unlocked!

Thanks Alan - not just me or my car then. It seems an odd fault to have, but like you my 'workaround' is to listen for the two beeps.

I've added the auto folding mirror pack which I recommend hugely, and this gives another visual clue - if the mirrors aren't folded the car isn't locked.

Mine does not auto lock - it is a setup option I think.
I had the auto mirror fold fitted when it was serviced, but recently there seems to be a problem with either the mirrors or the locking system. Sometimes the mirrors don't fold, others they do. Last time I had to operate the Start button to be sure they were out, then when I locked the doors the mirrors finally went in.
I will update if I find anything.

I’m fed up – the auto lock on my car has always worked each time I leave the car until last week –  I had to take the car back to the dealer because when I was in France for 5 weeks on three occasions when my wife open the passenger door and left the car, while I stayed in the vehicle, the “Key not found” came up for no reason even the key was where I always leave it. Pressing the stop button and re-start solved the message.
Needless to say they could not find any faults…………..so in desperation I have had a new key battery fitted this afternoon even though the dealer last week did not think the battery was causing any problem.

The car has a few intermittent faults, sometimes the voice for speeding fails to work.

The auto locking should also be set for different time intervals before auto locking, but this feature has never worked on either car.
I always make sure the car auto locks now before leaving it.

Does anyone have the speedo light up on entering, it lights up flashes a few times then goes out, last car didn't do this.

On mine,  autolock doesn't if the engine stopped on i-Stop before the start/stop button was pressed.  The mirror autofold only works if the autolock locks within roughly a minute of the engine shutting down.

Yep, speedo lights up/ flashes slowly when I get in the car. No idea why or how long it does this for!

Its “breathing” like some smartphones do.  Just a gimmick to say its with you!

The tailgate sometimes fails to lock - happened about 6 months ago and the issue has resurfaced this week.

Looks like a trip back to the dealer.

Went to the dealer, they told me the tailgate only locks once the key is out of range, and unlocks again once the key is back in range. There's no indication for this though.

Supposed to help someone with a load of shopping apparently, but you still need to manually open the tailgate anyway so not sure what the point is TBH.

I was worried by this at first I sorted it by putting the keys down 10 or 12 feet away then trying to open .
