Phone not connecting to Bluetooth.
« on: November 27, 2015, 07:46:11 am »
So with my 2013 CX-5 I had this issue with a Samsung Y, phone failed to connect every time to BT, even though it was on the compatibility list.
So I bought a HTC desire 510, which worked perfectly every time.

It appears that with the 2015 car I am back to square one, phone does not connect every time, and again its on the compatibility list.
So has anyone had a Bluetooth module changed.?

I didn't get anywhere with the dealer yesterday, all he said was all the mechanics phones would connect but not mine.

Strange thing is i have two identical phones, one will connect the other only now and then, and pairing is extremely difficult with it.
As a stop gap i've swapped sim cards so my contract phone will connect, which means the PAYG phone wont.

I'll test it for a while to see if its ok connecting, if that works i'll try to get the other phone repaired, i've done a factory reset but that made no difference.

Ok so now one phone will not pair, other paired but will not connect at all now, just says "unknown error"

I have sent an email to Mazda CS hopefully they can instruct my dealer on the way forward.  :(

Latest update after another software version down loaded.

Still not connecting every time.
What's really annoying  is I had connection problems with my last car, with a Galaxy Y brand new on contract.
The phone was on the compatibility list so should have connected every time, not 9 out of ten times.

So I borrowed my daughters HTC wildfire S, which connected every time as expected, but didn't receive text messages.
When the contract ran out I took a HTC desire 510, which again connected every time for the year used with the car, and also downloaded texts and emails. With that success I them bought a second HTC 510, and again it worked every time over the year with the car.

Now onto the second CX-5, different system I believe, but my 510 is on the compatibility list.
Not only that I tested the phone on a 2015 test car, it paired and connected as you would expect with no problems.

So on the day I pick up my new 2015 car the salesman attempts to get the phone to pair.
After around 5 attempts it finally pairs and connects so ten minutes or more trying.

Only to fail connecting after a few days with intermittent connecting and failure to connect every since.
And after 3 trips to the dealer its still doing the same. For some reason Mazda appear to be reluctant to replace any part, all I've had over the hours the cars been in the garage is two software updates.

Dealer says he will now have to ask Mazda how to proceed. I'm not happy, after working as an electrical technician for 25 years I would be looking for a new job if I hadn't at least changed a part by now.

So had a module replaced today.
Its for Bluetooth and wifi with a code on it saying "GMD7 66 9CO E"

It's a lot bigger than I expected around 6"x4"x2" with the outer case looking like a alli heat sink.
Any way phone and wifi have both connected so will see how it goes.

Nine days now and the phone has connected every time.  :)

I'm starting to hope, it also connects very quickly.

Two phones not connecting to bluetooth. problem started within two days of getting an "update" on a PCM - prompted by the the Engine Management Warning light coming on. Reading Xtrailman's problems obviously another module has failed.
Been getting problems with wifi and Connect on NAV since i bought the car, last April. Still not sorted despite major update in September last year. Customer service not much use although they did give a direct line to Tech Services in Germany.
Will check with dealer next week quoting bluetooth fix mentioned and report back

I'm confident now that my BT issues are put to bed since the module change.
The module came with an old software version (230), but still worked every time, I've since installed version 511, but 56.00.512 is now available.

The dealer may offer the 512, before replacing the module. But make sure they also install the latest version of software, I assumed that would have been done, but it wasn't.

I was also put through to Germany and spoke to Yan a top bloke, once I explained exactly my situation he immediately said it wasn't the phone, and a module was faulty, even so Mazda CS insisted on yet another "test" before changing, which was only a software update 511.

So that was 3 dealer visits, two involving the car being in overnight, only on the 4 visit was the module replaced.

I've had my car for a week and have had trouble connecting/losing Bluetooth connection even though the Wi-Fi works perfectly.

Do you have Aha and Stitcher installed? I'm suspecting that one or the other (or both) may be at root of my problems.

I removed the car from my phone's Bluetooth list and unpaired the phone from the car's menu.

I then uninstalled both Aha and Stitcher and restarted the car and phone before re-pairing. So far, so good but time will tell.

In addition, I installed the 'AutoTether for Automatica' Android app which turns on tethering automatically when I switch on the car and turns tethering off again afterwards (and also restores my regular Wi-Fi setting).

Worth a try!

I do have both Aha and Stitcher installed but have never used them, so i will uninstall them.  :)

I've used the tethering apps before with no success.

Oh well, after a trouble-free multi-journey day yesterday, my Bluetooth disconnected this morning. Bluetooth audio then kept connecting and disconnecting until I restarted the phone and all was well again.

It happened at exactly the same spot in my journey today as it did one day last week. I wonder if it's due to me applying more accelerator than usual (it's a very short dual carriageway section which allows me to get past slow lorries) resulting in some kind of interference?

That's my theory blown out of the water!  I'll continue to keep an eye on it.

Just to update.

For a change upgrading the software has sorted out my phone issue.

They were working ok on version 511, so i didn't bother with 512 or 513, after the second phone failed to connect  this afternoon(the first one failed around 3 week ago), i decided to upgrade to 513 and all is well again.

How long is another question.
