« on: June 01, 2016, 06:23:19 pm »
Hi, just ordered a CX5, and am wondering whether anyone knows the best place to get a spare wheel and kit (Sport Nav)....I have had a quote from a dealer which comes in at £279+vat and not even including the tyre!!!....not so long ago every car had them included!
Thank you.

I got the mazda space saver and iirc it was around £300 including the tyre and the kit for storing. You could also try and get a second hand full size wheel and tyre from e bay, although you would have to keep it in the boot as it wont fit underneath but really its a lot more usefull as it can be used to replace any punctured wheel. I believe the space saver can only be used on the rear.

Thank you for that, there is actually a full size slightly used with the older alloy on ebay for £175 at present!

I would look to buy a full set of winter tyres and wheels.

17" are more common so cheaper. I bought a full set of 19" wheels with nearly new tyres from an ex CX-5 sport owner, he had numerous issues with his car including excessive oil rise.
So he traded in for a Kuga.

His cx-5 had his winter wheels on which were the 17" wheels on trade in, so he sold the 4 spare OE ones to me, for £650 which i thought a fair price considering the tyres are around £135 and wheels at the time £210 each.

I've seen wheel sets for resonable money on the "on line" tyre sites. look under winter wheel sets or simular. You only need to store three and carry the other as a spare.

He did say the handling wasn't as good on the 17" wheels in his opinion.

Just wondering whether anyone knows what the maximum size tyre/ wheel fits under the boot floor without raising it?
Thank you.
