Replacement for punctured tyre

Realised, thanks to the TPMS, that I have a slow puncture on one of the rear tyres.  And the nail that had caused it is a little to close to the edge to effect a good repair.

Local dealers can't readily get a Toyo replacement so I've gone for a Good Year.

I'm only replacing the one as the other rear has 6mm of tread.  However I heard conflicting stories of you must replace at least 2 or in some cases all 4 - because it's an AWD.  I would have replaced 2 but there is so much tread left it seemed a waste.

Any comments / views on this.  Can't find any real guidance in the Mazda handbook.

Deepjoy check out www.blackcircles.com for future reference, found them very good, online booking appointment at a choice of local garages, sell both R36 and CF2 toyo,s. Very competitive  prices I paid £116 fitted each corner. Do you carry a spare?

Whilst I agree about replacing them in pairs, I've never heard of replacing all 4 on a 4x4.  My last car was a Rav4 AWD and I only ever replaced in pairs because the front set would wear much faster than the rears.  AWD isn't strictly 4x4 after all - the majority of the time it's just the front wheels that transfer the power (or the majority of the power at least).

Not a problem on my new CX-5 as I couldn't justify AWD so went back to 2WD...

I can remember many years ago of someone moaning to me about having to change all four tyres but that was for a volvo 850 T5. A bit different as it was a old police favourite and high performance AWD. I'm the same can't justify AWD          but I would like to give a AWD cx 5 a spin and see the comparison.

There's definitely a part of me that wants to play with the 175ps engine, the AWD, the Bose sound system, etc...  But then the part of me that pays for the fuel, road tax, insurance, tyres, etc. tells it to STFU.

You all seem to have forgotten that Mazda recommend rotating tires every 6000 miles, so that will mean renewing all 4 at a time, over the life of the car the cost will be the same as renewing in pairs. I would have thought that any car will Handel best with all tires having the same depth of tread.       As for 4X4s, doesn't interest me at all but I would love to have a day with a MX5.

My 2012 hasn't as its set on the info computer ( mileage countdown ), lol, I rotated 2 times before changing all 4 at just over 20k. I agree with you that any car will handle better with same depth of tread, as for mx 5 me too check out the mx 5 threads, sorry for going of topic.

Kwikfit told me all 4 tyres must match , manufacturer, model and size for the TPMS to work.

I wouldn't necessarily take Kwikfit's word for it.
